Built for heavy plate production
The LF 1040 is built for plants that process plate by the ton: hull and deck plate, heavy equipment frames and booms, rail car sills, structural members and large plate for service centers. A 10' x 40' bed takes plate up to 10' wide and 40' long, so nests run at full size and long parts come off in one piece.
At 60 kW it cuts carbon and stainless steel up to 3-1/8" and aluminum up to 2-3/8". Add the 3D bevel head and weld-prep bevels are cut in the same program as the part, so plate goes from the bed to fit-up without a second operation. If your parts run longer than 40', the bed extends in 20' sections.
The LF 1040 shares the HypCut 8000 control and Piranha cutting head with the FLEX series, so programming and training carry across a mixed LASER fleet. Piranha installs, trains and supports it from Belvidere, Illinois.

What fits on a 10' x 40' bed
The LF 1040 cuts on a 10' x 40' bed: 400 sq ft (37.2 m²) of cutting area, about 8 times a 5' x 10' sheet. Each 20' bed extension adds 200 sq ft.
The LF 1040 pairs a 10' width with a 40' bed for long, narrow work. Truck frame rails, trailer side rails and crossmember blanks come off in one piece, a 10' x 40' plate loads whole, and the bed extends in 20' sections when parts run longer.

Can the LF 1040 cut weld-prep bevels?
Yes. The 3D bevel cutting head is an option on the LF 1040 and cuts weld-prep bevels in the same program as the part.
What does installation require?
Your proposal lists footprint, weight and electrical service sizing (460 V, 3-phase, 60 Hz), along with gas and dust collection requirements. Piranha installs the machine and trains your operators and programmers.
How is the LF 1040 supported?
By Piranha's U.S. service team in Belvidere, Illinois. The Preventive Maintenance Program adds 1, 2 or 3 years of scheduled visits, two a year, with full system inspection, on-site calibration and documentation, and priority scheduling.
What is the difference between the LF 1040 and the LF 1020?
Bed length. Both are 10' wide. The LF 1040 has a 40' bed that can be extended; the LF 1020 has a fixed 20' bed.
