Electrical Assembler - Rockford, IL

POSITION DESCRIPTION – Electrical Assembler

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

MegaFab DBA Piranha is a leading U.S. manufacturer of machine tool and metal processing equipment with a proud and successful 139 + year history.  Our product offering includes fiber laser cutting machines, combination punch/plasma fabrication centers, plasma cutting machines, ironworkers, press brakes, bending rolls, section rolls, and structural punching equipment and tooling.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are accepting resumes for Electrical Assemblers with mechanical aptitude to assemble a variety of machines and options.  Full Time and Part Time positions available.

Responsibilities:

Assemble-Build-Wire Industrial electrical panels and controls for CNC Punch Plasma machines, Lasers, press brakes, high definition plasma, bending rolls, and related product, via blueprints, bill of materials, photos, job notes.  Test run machines per final inspection and test procedures.

Requirements:

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints.
  • Follow electrical schematics to build panels, assemble CNC packages, drives, motors, terminal blocks, IO’s, switches, safety circuits, and related.
  • Wire complete machines and sub-assemblies.
  • Knowledge of wiring practices, layout, neatness in cable runs.
  • Knowledge of using flexible, rigid conduit, and terminating wires.
  • Utilize photos, blueprints, engineering sketches, verbal instructions to build product.
  • Use PC/wire label printer to create wire numbers.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Write legibly, fill out final inspection and test documentation.
  • Able to perform mechanical assembly or aptitude to learn.
  • Use tools of the trade. Meters, screwdrivers, knock-out punches, drills, taps, wire cutters, crimpers, soldering iron, wrenches, air/electric drills, die grinders, and others.
  • Safe machine startup, verify correct voltage, phasing, troubleshoot startup issues.
  • Utilize overhead crane and proper rigging or lifting devices.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Work in a team environment interacting cooperatively.
  • Lift / handle 50 pounds.
  • Safety minded. Must wear steel or composite toe safety shoes, safety glasses. Knowledge of electrical safety.

POSITION DESCRIPTION-Electrical/Mechanical Assembler

Requirements:

  • Good communication skills with co-workers, lead men, engineering and supervisor.
  • Quality conscious.
  • Use computer to clock on/off jobs.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness-organization.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Pass Drug Test and Physical
  • Work Overtime when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates degree in a related Electrical Trade preferred but not necessary with qualified experience.

Experience:

  • Willing to train a qualified individual (Student currently enrolled in Industrial electrical trade with mechanical aptitude) or recent Trade/Tech School Graduate.
  • 2 years in an Industrial environment preferred (related electrical trade).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, general knowledge of tools, fasteners, and assembly technique.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and/move/handle 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift heavier weight.
  • Regular use of eye/hand coordination.
  • Frequently stand, stoop, or kneel up to 10 hours.
  • Work off a lift or ladder.
  • Frequently walk.

  • Assemble and test piranha iron workers, punch plasma machines, lasers, press brakes, high-definition plasma tables, air plasma tables, bending rolls, and related product.
  • Read and interpret assembly blueprints.
  • Utilize photos, blueprints, engineering sketches, bill of material, job notes, and verbal instructions to build product.
  • Write legibly, fill out final inspection and test documentation.
  • Able to perform mechanical assembly.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, air tools.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics.
  • Basic Welding experience.
  • Safe machine startup, troubleshoot startup issues.
  • Utilize overhead crane and proper rigging or lifting devices.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Field Service Engineer - Rockford, IL

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Mega Fabrication, Inc. dba Piranha Is in need of a top-notch Field Service Engineer for servicing equipment throughout North America with some International Travel. Our Manufacturing Facility is located in Rockford Illinois. If you have 5+ years or more experience in the repair and or modification of CNC machinery and strong electrical and mechanical background, then this might be the position you are looking for. You will be servicing machine tools with various controls and drives, Fanuc, Siemens, and Beckhoff Control experience a plus. Laser and Plasma Cutting experience desired, not required. Military background in the electrical/electronic field a plus. This is a direct position with great opportunity for growth. This is a full-time position with responsibilities as outlined below.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel throughout North America and some International Travel
  • Mechanical, electrical, and electronic troubleshooting and repair of machine tools.
  • Modification of electrical/mechanical systems of machine tools.
  • Preventative maintenance of electrical/mechanical systems of machine tools.
  • Provide customers troubleshooting assistance via telephone and or Internet connection.
  • Other projects as assigned by management team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a minimum 5 years of experience providing service on CNC machinery at customer locations.
  • Travel 90% or more.
  • Present professional image.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Background in basic machine operation and part programming.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming standard.
  • Knowledge of various controls, Fanuc, Siemens, Beckhoff.
  • Knowledge in use of Microsoft office products and internet.
  • Trained in theory and principals of mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to independently travel to customer locations.
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools and electronic test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of job site safety, i.e. Lockout/tagout.
  • High standard of integrity and professionalism.
  • 2 Year Associates Degree in Electronics Preferred
