Fabrication equipment expertise built around real production challenges.
Piranha began in 1974 when Harry Oswald and Bob Brown developed an ironworker to improve production at the foundry where they worked. They recognized that other fabricators faced the same bottlenecks, so they brought that practical solution to market. Some of those original ironworkers remain in operation today. Since then, Piranha has expanded from its foundational ironworker into a broad line of metal fabrication and thermal-cutting equipment, while integrating the W.A. Whitney and Bertsch brands. The result is a company with 145+ years of combined heritage and a clear focus on helping North American manufacturers build more efficient, reliable workflows. From a single machine to a connected shop solution, Piranha combines application knowledge, durable equipment, and accessible U.S.-based support.
Fabricated metal products are finished components, assemblies, or structures made by transforming raw metal stock into usable parts. The work can include cutting, punching, bending, rolling, welding, machining, and assembly. Examples range from brackets and electrical enclosures to trailer components and structural pieces. Fabrication equipment is selected according to material type, thickness, required tolerances, part volume, and the operations needed.
